Penn State and the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) will hold a poster session in conjunction with the WUN global challenge workshop “Adapting to Climate Change.”  Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and researchers at Penn State and other WUN institutions are invited to participate in this poster session on Sunday, May 23, 2010 tentatively scheduled for 5:00pm - 8:00pm.

Research at WUN member institutions covers a wide range of subjects relevant to adaptation and climate change including: public health, food security, poverty, environmental risk, water security, and environmental justice, among others.  Those interested in participating in this poster session are invited to submit abstracts for research on topics with an emphasis on understanding and facilitating adaptive capacity to prepare for, and respond to, the impacts of climate change.  Areas of particular interest include:

•    Learning from past climatic extremes to inform adaptation strategies, both short term and long term
•    Technological and scientific advances to facilitate adaptation
•    Projecting regional and local climates for adaptation strategies
•    Ethical and political dimensions of adaptation strategies
•    Projecting economic, ecological, and other outcomes of adaptive strategies at multiple scales
•    Communication strategies on climate and uncertainty, merging scientific and traditional knowledge
•    Livelihood resilience and human security in both developed and developing countries subject to climate change

Registration is required to attend this event, please complete and submit the form below.
Deadline for registration and submission of poster abstracts is
