Veterinary & Technical Services

A variety of veterinary and technical services for research support are available to Penn State investigators through the Animal Resource Program (ARP).

Diagnostic services

• Necropsy
• Histopathology
• Clinical Pathology
• Health Surveillance

Veterinary Services

• Prereview of experimental protocols
• Assistance in design and planning of animal experimentation procedures
• Surgical assistance and consultation
• Radiography
• Serology and Hemotology
• Health surveillance and reproductive consultation for agricultural animals

Technical Services

Facilities for provision of the above services are available in the Centralized Biological Laboratory. Consultation with the veterinary or technical staff is necessary prior to scheduling of services. Please call (865-1495) to arrange scheduling in advance to assure availability of personnel, equipment and the facility. These services are not included in per diem rates. Estimates for services will be given at the time of consultation or scheduling. Occasional professional consultation and assistance is available to all investigators without charge, but if required on a regular ongoing basis appropriate funding should be arranged.
