Jainendra K. Jain, the Erwin W. Mueller Professor of Physics, and James Kasting, distinguished professor of geosciences, have been named members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation's most prestigious honorary societies and independent policy research centers in the United States. Richard Alley, the Evan Pugh professor of geosciences, and Barry Marshall, the Francis R. and Helen M. Pentz Professor of Science, are the newest Penn State members of the National Academy of Sciences which announced the election of 72 new members and 18 foreign associates from nine countries in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Energy Task Force Report
The Energy Task Force has presented its report "A Strategic Energy Initiative for Penn State: Findings of the 2006 Energy Task Force" to the Senior Vice President for Research. The task force was charged to develop a strategic vision and roadmap for energy-related research, education and outreach at Penn State. Comments and questions regarding this report should be directed to William Easterling, Director of the Penn State Institutes of the Environment.
