Interdisciplinary Research

Contemporary research is rarely conducted by single investigators, or even within narrowly defined fields.  Penn State has exceptionally strong interdisciplinary research efforts, focused by independently administered units whose activities cut across college boundaries. These units, overseen by the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, facilitate research efforts through direct support of interdisciplinary researchers and teams, as well as oversight and maintenance of the complex infrastructure and core facilities crucial to modern research activities.

The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research also oversees Penn State’s larger interdisciplinary grant proposal efforts and conducts internal downselects when agencies limit the number of proposals which can be submitted by the institution.  More information about limited submissions is available on the Web site for the Penn State Limited Submission Program (Penn State faculty/staff only).

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: This website is designed to serve as the Penn State portal for all things ARRA related and to provide our faculty and staff with guidance in their pursuit and administration of this unique funding opportunity.
