PSIEE and the Industrial Research Office will be hosting Ron Ondechek, an Associate with Altira Group (www.altiragroup.com), an established energy technology venture capitalist firm with $300 million in assets.  Ron will present information to assist our faculty with interacting with the VC community and in moving their technology into the commercial marketplace.

After attending this presentation, you should be able to answer:

  1. What do venture capitalists look for in technology and how do they make investments?
  2. What are the keys to adopting technology in the marketplace?
  3. How to understand the general structure of a venture capital fund?

Ron OndechekAbout Ron
Ron Ondechek is currently an associate with the Altira Group, an energy technology venture capital firm in Denver, Colorado with $300 million in assets. He started his career in the oil and gas industry and gained a thorough understanding of downstream operations as a refinery and project engineer with ExxonMobil.  Ron also has proven financial modeling and executive expertise as an upstream E&P financial analyst with AG Edwards with a long track record of starting successful businesses in a variety of industries from international sports to environmental biotechnology. With Altira, Ron has presided over a dozen transactions, sits on the board of Davidson Instruments, and is a board observer for several other Altira portfolio companies including Hyperion Power Generation, Evolutionary Genomics, and DHI Services.  Ron has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University (1999) and an MBA from Tulane University (2003).
