- Assistant Proposal Generalist
Andy is responsible for proposal preparation and submission on behalf of SIRO. He supports faculty submitting proposals to secure strategic awards. He assists the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) in the review, negotiation and processing of awards made to the University. He ensures federal, state and other agency requirements are met on fully executed awards. Andy also works directly with the sponsoring agency, faculty and institute directors to resolve discrepancies or questions that may arise.
Andy began his Penn State career in 2014 with the College of Engineering Finance Office, and he joined SIRO in September 2016. Before moving to State College in 2013 with his wife Megan, Andy worked in various departments at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he also obtained his bachelor’s degree in zoology in 2003 and his MBA in 2008. Andy has done research on a variety of animals including bats, woodrats and cave crickets. Outside the office, Andy enjoys spending time with his son Tyler, hiking, baking sweet treats, working in his wood shop, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.
