Job Responsibilities

Provide leadership, management and training for the SIRO Pre-Award team. She leads the Pre-Award team in supporting faculty submitting large multi-college/institutional proposals as well as proposals to secure smaller strategic awards. Allison assists the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) in the review, negotiation and processing of awards made to the University, and she ensures federal, state and other agency requirements are met on fully executed awards. She works directly with the sponsoring agency, faculty, and institute directors to resolve discrepancies or questions that may arise. She also provides oversight on award arrangement, distribution of funding and establishing/management of subawards, and award administration.

 

Professional Background

Diane is a Research Administrator with over 16 years of experience here at Penn State in both Pre and Post-Award Research Administration.  She began her career at Penn State in 2006 with the former Department of Horticulture (currently Plant Science) as the lead Financial Assistant responsible for oversight of all sponsored awards and the Department budget portfolio.  In 2016 she joined the College of Agricultural Sciences Office of Grants & Contracts Pre-Award submission team and was the Assistant Director from 2018-2022 prior to joining SIRO.  She received the College of Agriculture’s Staff Laureate Leadership Award in 2019 and the ACOR Collaboration Award in 2017 as part of the University’s Pre-Award Advisory Board team.  She also has over 27 years’ experience as a leader and mentor both here at Penn State and in the Direct Sales/Retail Marketing industry, earning 30+ national achievements in sales, marketing, recruitment and retention, and was recognized as a top national team leader.  Outside of her career Diane enjoys traveling, reading, paper crafts, homestead activities, hunting, all things agriculture, and armature meteorology.
