Schedule of Monthly IRB Meetings* and Deadlines*This schedule applies only to Full Review Applications. Expedited and Exempt Applications are reviewed as they are received. For more information, please read about Types of Review or visit our Frequently Asked Questions area. PLEASE NOTE: The two Penn State IRBs (Biomedical and Social Science IRB) are being restructured. As of September 2009, there will no longer be a separate Biomedical IRB and a separate Social Science IRB. Rather, there will be two IRBs (IRB #1 and IRB #2) each comprised of members that will be able to review either Biomedical research protocols or Social Science research protocols. IRB subcommittee members will be assigned as per the expertise needed for the submitted protocol. IRB #1 will meet at 8:30 AM on the second Tuesday of the month. IRB #2 will meet at 11:30 AM on the 4th Thursday of the month. Due to the restructuring and subsequent new meeting dates, beginning in September, there will no longer be submission deadline dates for Full Review studies. Full Review submissions will be assigned to the next available IRB meeting date as soon as the submission is prescreened and determined to be complete enough to be presented to the Full IRB. This new policy is applicable to new Full Review applications and modifications to Full Review studies. For Continuing Reviews for Full Review studies, please note that completed Continuing Progress Reports will need to be received in adequate advance so that they can be reviewed at an IRB meeting prior to the study's expiration date.
