Penn State's Policy & AssuranceThe purpose of Penn State's Policy RA14 ("The Use of Human Subjects in Research") is both to protect the rights and well-being of human participants in research and to support the human participants research efforts of Penn State faculty, staff, and students. Compliance with this policy provides protections for human participants as mandated by Title 45 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 46 and promulgated by the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) | En Español . As required by Federal regulations, Penn State has an approved Federalwide Assurance with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS): Identification Number FWA00001534. The purpose of the assurance is to document the institution's commitment to comply with Federal regulations and maintain adequate programs and procedures for the protection of human participants. The assurance is submitted to OHRP every three years and is signed by the Institutional Official, the Senior Vice President for Research.
