ACOR Certification & Education Series (ACES)

About the Program

ACOR Certification & Education Series is an education and certification program developed by the Administrative Committee on Research and co-sponsored by the Office for Research Protections.

The program is designed to give Research Administrators at every level - department, college, and institute - necessary skills and expertise to support faculty in research. The training will provide essential tools for every step of the research support process - from proposal development to project management to compliance.

We are excited to announce that ACES has been re-formatted and will now be 1 Year Program!

  • Program condensed from 2 years to 1. Program reduced from 20 classes to 15-16, depending on the desire to conclude with a roundtable discussion class.
  • Participants commit to 8 classes per semester, lowering the cost to $785.00 per semester.
  • Individual certificates eliminated; final graduation certification is only certificate earned.
  • Semester-end tests are eliminated and replaced with take-home test modeled on case study format. Participants work on case study materials on own or in groups on own time, then upload to ANGEL for grading. This format will allow for better opportunity to demonstrate practical application of the concepts learned.
  • Practice tests can still be made available in ANGEL for participants who choose to test their own knowledge in a multiple choice format. Some practice tests and/or other assignments could be required homework.

We will be accepting applications up until Friday, July 10, 2009. Registration is limited, so please complete the application and send your resume to Kara Thomas at on or before that date. The tentative schedule for next years' classes are Friday mornings, from 8am to 12pm, in 102 Kern or 330 Innovation Park:
