Office for Research Protections

New Staff

photoThe ORP is delighted to welcome Joanna "Josy" Lyons as our new Human Participants Research Compliance Monitor. Josy comes to the ORP from the College of Health and Human Development where she coordinated research studies, recruited study volunteers for the Penn State Diabetes Center, and worked as a nurse in the General Clinical Research Center. She began her work in research at the Center for Locomotion Studies, which was part of Penn State's Kinesiology Department.

Josy was attracted to the Research Compliance Monitor position because she has a genuine interest in research participants' experiences. The position also offers her the opportunity to learn about the wide range of research being conducted at all of Penn State's campuses.

Though it will be a challenge to create the Research Compliance Monitor position, Josy is very excited to be given the opportunity to play a part in facilitating research at Penn State. Her background in research and education will give her a unique perspective while aiding the University's research community.

In her free time, Josy enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading and swimming. Please join us in welcoming her to the ORP!
