Workshop Descriptions

As part of the SARI program, faculty may be asked to include RCR topics in their courses and to discuss these issues with their graduate students in both formal and informal settings. While most faculty are aware of the ways in which these important topics pertain to their own work, many feel unprepared to present these topics to students in a systematic way, or may be reluctant to moderate a discussion that ventures into moral or ethical territory. ORP's Train-the-Trainer (TTT) workshops are designed to

  • prepare faculty to present an overview of RCR topics;
  • point faculty to the many resources that are available to them to support their efforts to teach RCR; and
  • provide guidance and demonstrations of various teaching modalities, such as moderated discussion, case studies, or role playing.

After participating in ORP's Train-the-Trainer workshop, faculty will have a general understanding of RCR issues beyond their own field, will know where to find resources to help them develop educational offerings, and will feel confident and enthusiastic about engaging students and colleagues in learning about RCR.
