Researchers seeking men and women who are taking medication to control high blood pressure.

Research Participant Criteria

To be eligible for this study, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Age: 40 - 75 Years
  • Men and women who are taking physician-prescribed medication to control their blood pressure
  • NOT taking cholesterol lowering medication
  • Nonsmoker
  • Not taking oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding

Research Study Details

The NOS isoforms mediating local heating-induced cutaneous VD, and NOS gene-expression and activity in humans with essential hypertension Part 3 - Hypertension medication

Purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of blood pressure medication on changes in skin blood flow caused by high blood pressure.

Approximate Participant Study Length: 16 Hours

Requires 5-6 visits to Noll Lab

Visit 1:  Screening visit and set up of 24 hour blood pressure monitor =1.5 hours

Visit 2:  Drop off blood pressure monitor (or our staff can pick it up) =10 minutes

Visit 3:  MD experiment =5 hours

Visit 4 (can be combined with visit 3):  Optional biopsy experiment =1 hour

Visit 5 (or 4):  Ach experiment =5 hours

Visit 6 (or 5):  FLPI experiment =4 hours

Compensation: $270 for total participation
