Researchers seek men and women ages 40-90 with known or suspected high blood pressure for a study examining skin blood flow

Research Participant Criteria

To be eligible for this study, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Age: 40 - 90 Years
  • Men and women ages 40-90
  • Known or suspected high blood pressure
  • Nonsmoker
  • No heart/blood pressure or cholesterol-lowering medications
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Not taking hormone replacement therapy

Research Study Details

Analysis of the skin blood flow response to local thermal provocation as a means to assess microvascular function.

Purpose of the study: 1. To characterize the skin blood flow response to changes in skin temperature. 2. To develop a method that predicts the function of the skin's blood vessels in healthy, aged and hypertensive populations.

3 visits to Noll Lab will be required.

Approximate Participant Study Length: 5 Hours

3 visits to the Noll lab will be required.

Visit 1: Screening visit requires approximately 1 hour

Visit 2: Return 24 hour blood pressure monitor requires approximately 1/4 hour

Visit 3: Heating/Cooling Protocol requires approximately 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours

Compensation: $45-60
