Nutrition research study for 7-10 year olds and their parents

Research Participant Criteria

To be eligible for this study, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Age: 7 - 10 Years
Exclusion Criteria

You are not eligible if any of the following applies to you:

  • Food allergies
  • Uncomfortable in small spaces
  • Severe health concern

Research Study Details

Neural mechanisms underlying children's responses to food portion size and energy density

Help us learn how your children respond to different foods!

This is a research study for healthy, right-handed 7-10 year olds and their parents. Investigators will use a safe method called fMRI to take pictures of your child's brain while they look at food. Your child will also eat dinners in our laboratory.  You and your child will be compensated $160. This study is being conducted by Dr. Kathleen Keller in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. Location: Chandlee Laboratory
Approximate Participant Study Length: 2 Years

The study consists of 5 weekly visits in Chandlee laboratory. One visit for the fMRI will take place in the Imaging Center in Chandlee and take no longer than 2.5 hours. Four visits for dinners will be in the Children's Eating Behavior laboratory and take no longer than 1.5 hours.
