Request to Operate UA at Penn State

All personnel wishing to operate UA (i.e., drones) on Penn State property or as part of a Penn State activity must submit the request form below to the UA Operations Manager. This includes the following. 

  • Outdoor flights
  • Indoor flights 
  • Flights for hobby, educational, research, business or commerical 
  • Flights conducted by third party vendors

UA Flight operations are not permitted to be conducted until approval is granted by the UA Operations Team.  If you are not familiar with this process or have not submitted a request in the past 3 months, please review the information on the Getting Started page.

Flight requests must be submitted at least 1 week prior to proposed flight date unless there are extenuating circumstances.  This gives the UA Operations Manager adequate time to thoroughly review requests, seek other stakeholder approval as needed and provide a final determination. If approval is granted, it will only be valid for up to a semester at a time.

Third Party Operators capturing content will need approval from the Office of Strategic Communications prior to use of content.

Additional approvals may be needed based on proposed operations.
