In this lecture, we’ll cover various aspects of technology transfer, including what a tech transfer office does, what the job of a licensing professional entails, and why tech transfer is the best career that you’ve never heard of!  You’ll get an intro to Penn State’s tech transfer office – the Office of Technology Management – and you’ll learn how the skills that you’ve obtained during your graduate studies and postdoctoral training may have unknowingly prepared you for a career in tech transfer.  And if you are convinced that a career in tech transfer is the right next step for you, you’ll definitely be interested to hear about the current opportunities to join Penn State’s tech transfer team!

Dustin Ritter is a Senior Technology Licensing Officer in the Office of Technology Management at The Pennsylvania State University, where he manages a portfolio of approximately 200 Penn State technologies, primarily focused on biomedical technologies.  Dustin obtained his BS in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, after which he performed an additional year of postdoctoral research in Chemistry at Penn State University.  Prior to joining Penn State, Dustin was a Senior Scientist and then Director of R&D at a State College-based biotech startup company called BioMagnetic Solutions.
