The Penn State Scientific Diving Program would like to remind you of two student opportunities from the AAUS Foundation that have quickly approaching deadlines:

1. Kevin Flanagan Travel Award - This award provides up to $800 in travel funds and a waived student registration fee for the recipient to attend the 2023 AAUS Diving for Science symposium to be held in Pensacola, Florida, April 23-29th.  Applications are due January 15th and can be found under the Scholarship tab at www.aausfoundation.org. Students must be members of AAUS to apply, but should contact the AAUS office if there is a financial hardship preventing membership ($25/annually).  Up to 3 recipients are awarded annually.   More about the symposium, including a full schedule, can be found at https://aaus.org/AAUS/Annual_Symposium.aspx. Join us for a fantastic meeting!

2. AAUS/OWUSS Summer Internships - In conjunction with Our World Underwater Scholarship Society, AAUS offers two summer internships for 2023;  one for a student to receive training in an AAUS Scientific Diver course and one for an already trained AAUS diver to participate in a scientific research project. Applications are due January 15th and can be found at https://www.owuscholarship.org/internships.  If your organization is interested in hosting an intern, more information and the host application can be found here
