Research volunteers needed who have or think they may have high blood pressure

Research participants needed for a study that is investigating the causes for the impairments in blood pressure control and vascular health in hypertension.  A series of visits to the Noll Lab over 5 months will be required. 

Benefits of participating:  Lab results that look at overall general health, 24 hour blood pressure monitor test to get a picture of what your blood pressure is doing as you go about your daily routine, blood pressure medication provided with supervision by a doctor for dosage adjustment.

Male
Female
Starting Age in Years: 
40
Ending Age in Years: 
65
Additional Inclusion Criteria: 
  • No tobacco use
  • No heart/cholesterol medications
  • General good health other than high blood pressure

Study Length Details: 
Visit 1: screening visit -1 hour Visit 2: experiment visit -5 hours Visit 3: experiment visit-4 hours Start 16 week course of prescribed blood pressure medication. Visits 4-8: brief 15 minute visits for blood pressure checks scheduled once per month over 16 week period Visits 9-10: experiment visits scheduled at 16-20wk post medication treatment and are repeats of visit 2&3 experiments
