Optimal design of piezoelectric energy harvester for elastic metamaterial
Metamaterial is an organized structure to obtain special properties even not in nature, like negative refractive index and perfect sound absorption. These special properties can be achieved by manipulated electromagnetic and acoustic waves from the matematerials. Moreover, the metamaterials also can focus and amplify the elastic waves using phononic crystal structures and those are fascinating candidate for piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH) system. In this work, therefore, piezoelectric ceramics were applied to a metamaterial that can amplify the elastic wave via the defect of phononic crystal structure. Furthermore, the optimal design of piezoelectric ceramic including geometric, piezoelectric and dielectric properties was investigated with various sizes and compositions of ceramics for output performance of PEH."
