Job Responsibilities
Mary assists the Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office with pre-award proposal submissions in compliance review of non-technical documents, advising faculty with proposal preparations for institutes, and serving as a liaison between departmental staff, project administrative unit staff, and the Office of Sponsored Programs.
Professional Background
Mary brings to SIRO 39 years of diverse financial customer services experience, 12 of which are research focused with Penn State. She joined the Department of Physics in 2011 as an Administrative Support Assistant. With her financial experience and desire to excel, she advanced to the Financial Manager and served as the interim department Administrative Coordinator during her last 6 months with Physics. Mary is a 2016 graduate of the ACOR Certification and Education (ACES) program. During her time in Eberly College of Science, she was a member of the Climate and Diversity Committee for several years, including Committee Chair in FY 2017-2018. In 2018, Mary advanced her career as the first departmental Proposal and Award Generalist, pre- and post-award, for the College of Agricultural Sciences serving in the department of Plant Sciences. Mary’s pre-award skills and team effort were acknowledged when she was recognized as the ACOR (Administrative Committee on Research) 2021 Pre-Award All Star.
