The University Park IACUC has two new guidelines: Investigator-Provided Husbandry in Animal Facilities and Monitoring of Aged Laboratory Rodents.
Guideline 30 outlines the process for researchers to request to provide husbandry for their own research animals. This request must be reviewed and approved by the IACUC and should be noted as an exception in the IACUC protocol. The IACUC program is working on a template for this request, which will be available next year.
Guideline 31 provides guidance for researchers working with aged animals.
