NIH Clinical Trials: 15 Minute Overview

Tue, Jan. 16, 2018 - 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM
The Living Center (110 Henderson Bldg.) and online via Zoom

What NIH’s Definition Means for Researchers and How the ORP Can Help

The Office for Research Protections will present a 15-minute overview on NIH’s definition of a clinical trial, which affects all NIH-funded researchers conducting human subjects research. The new definition is broader than the usual understanding of a clinical trial, particularly for researchers in the health, life, and social/behavioral sciences. For funding purposes, all researchers must know whether their work is a clinical trial.  This quick overview is intended to help research teams understand the definition and will point them to additional resources. Following the brief overview will be a 30-minute Q&A.  We encourage researchers to bring their proposals with them.  Faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students are welcome and encouraged to attend. This overview will be presented in person and online. Log in to https://psu.zoom.us/j/916143740 to attend via Zoom.  For telephone, dial:
