Based on the international bestseller Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dale Evans, this interactive workshop applies the concepts of design thinking to postodoctoral life and job search strategy. For 4+ years, I (Dr. Jennifer Nicholas) incorporated life design concepts to help mid-career professionals find meaningful, deeply satisfying work. Prior to that, I earned a Ph.D. in Workforce Education and Development with an emphasis on the academic-to-work transition. Drawing from theory and practice, participants will learn tools and mindset shifts for a strategic career transition. Workshop content includes small group discussion and actionable insights for this spring, regardless of whether you're preparing to transition this year or later. An added benefit of career-focused programming exclusive to postdocs is the opportunity to network and learn from one another.
