Tuition Restrictions

Tuition remission is an allowable fringe benefit for graduate student labor (per 2 CFR 200.431(j)(2)) and 2 CFR 200.466). Federal agencies “must not impose additional or inconsistent requirements, except as provided in §§ 200.102 and 200.211, or unless specifically required by Federal statute, regulation, or Executive order” (per 2 CFR 200.100(a)(1)).

If a sponsor tells you that tuition remission is not an allowable cost, please contact the Office of Sponsored Programs for further discussion.
